The colours follow a traffic light system:
GO = green for essential foods like water, vegetables, plant proteins, and healthy fats
CAUTION = orange/yellow for unprocessed or lightly processed animal proteins, fruits, and grains
STOP = red for reducing or eliminating processed foods

It considers a food’s production, processing, preparation, and consumption. The goal is to choose foods in the center more often.
